What are all the Rumors for?
Sorry friends, but I have to vent a
moment.... I have been hearing, and hearing, and HEARING
all kinds of stuff about me and my knee in the past month, last couple
weeks especially. Some one(s) are telling people that I HAVE to
have surgery and am putting it off, or that I am having it but lying to
others about it, or basically just lying to every one
period. First off, my knee, though not 100% as far as I am
concerned, DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY SURGERY. There, I have said it,
again, but I have said it. If you don't hear it from me, don't
believe it. Period. If you are a booker or promoter, I am
available for your show, please contact me.
Another thing I keep hearing is that Ref Al Scott is really the guy
that is that Blueue guy at N.E.W. and UW under a mask... Very
weird, not sure where that came from, but... OK. I
had Terry Kadillak mention that he's never seen me and Blueue in the
same room at the same time, but OK... Now, I know that Terry and
I have had our run ins, especially at UW. Starting with the first
Divine Intervention, when Doink had him in a hold and walked Terry
around to several people to chop, I was one of them. then, the
next UW show in Geneva, he went after the High School Athletic Director
with a chair, missed him, hit the ropes and bounced the chair into his
own face, knocking himself out temporarily, and Ron covered him for the
pin, Terry came to and chased after me, and then flew right out of the
ring. I guess he has embarrassed himself enough trying to get at
me in the ring, and is now starting a rumor campaign....
HMmmm, maybe HE is behind the knee thing.... All I know is
that 6-13-09, back in Geneva NY, back at DeSalles High School, Ultimate
Wrestling returns with Nikki Roxx (formerly Roxxi of TNA) and Al Snow
(Former WWE Superstar and Trainer). If you don't have your
tickets yet, let me know. Matches that are currently announced
are Kriptic v Deacon, Blueue v Curtis Lee Walker, Nine Lives will be in
action, along with Patrick O'Malley, Kage, and many other UW
Stars. Hometown favorite Nick Paradise will be in the house
also. GET YOU TICKETS NOW!!!!!

I am cleared to Ref again!!
Just
a quick update, I saw the main Orthopedic doctor yesterday, and I am
good to go. Bookers and Promoters, start lining up, I am ready to
ref! (lol)

THANK YOU JP BLACK
Last Saturday night, I had the honor
of watching JP Black wrestle his final match. It was an Awesome
match. He and Brodie Lee left it all out in the ring. I had
the honor of being there in Rutland, VT when JP had his final ride in
Vermont also. It was an emotional, inspiring evening. His
stirring speech to the fans and wrestlers after the match touched most
every one in the venue. When N.E.W. has the DVD ready for
purchase, it is definitely a must buy item for your collection!!!!

NO SURGERY NEEDED!!!!!
I
saw the Specialist the other day, along with the XRays and MRI results,
and I do NOT need surgery. I have a bone bruise in the bone just
below my knee, and I have tendonitis in the tendon that attaches my
Hamstring to the back of my knee. The bruise I did not feel, the
hamstring issue was what made me and the doctor think I had the
meniscus issues. I have been put on an uber regimin of Alieve,
rehab, and rest. I am still "not cleared" to ref until my next
follow up at the end of next month, so no reffing til then, but at
least I am not being forced into retirement early........
WOOT!!!!!

Good News - Bad News
I hate this.... Back on March 1st
(I think it was), I was helping the UW promoter unload the truck at his
storage facility after the successful show in Elmira. Silly me
ALMOST rolled my right ankle, and in the process, I tried to
steady/support myself with my left leg. The ground was partially
frozen muddy slush, and my left knee ended up bending the wrong
way. Hyper extension. Nothing popped. Nothing
snapped. After rolling on the ground, I was able to stand on it,
with ginger weight distribution, but I could get around. After a
week or so, it was getting somewhat better, but not like I
expected. Right after the injury, there was no bruising, swelling
yes, but no pain spots, either. Nothing I could reference as a
specific injury area in my knee. I saw Dr Heather, she gave me
accupuncture to relieve the pain, and then did some feeling around in
the area to see what was wrong. She found SOMETHING behind my
knee that made me want to jump through the roof, major pain I hadn't
found before. I felt a lot better after that, and was continuing
to Ref and honor my bookings. Because there was no popping, no
bruising, and I could walk ok, I didn't think much of it. I could
Ref, but only with my knee brace on, I was ok, I could get up and down
and around.
Fast forward a couple weeks, and I
have a couple friends with knee issues of some kind, they could still
walk, with some pain, but nothing debilitating, that found out they
will have to have surgery. I figured, if these guys are bad off,
I need to have mine looked at. So I saw an orthopedic specialist,
and that was that. I have, at a minimum, a torn meniscus, and I
will find out when the surgery will be,and how long I will out, next
Thursday morning. As of right now, I have been told not to ref by
the Dr. In the last 27 months, since I started, I have only
missed 1 booking due to illness. GAR!!!!!!!!!
BUT I HAVE GOOD NEWS, and it has
nothing to do with saving money with that lizard loving auto insurance
company...... And I will announce that later tonight, early
tomorrow here, unless you are at the NEW show tonight, and you hear it
there first..... !!!!!!!
03-24-09
Long Time, no hear.....
Yeah.
I know, TOO LONG between updates, but that is all going to
change. Stay tuned to this page in the coming days to find out
HOW this will change, how this will affect Ref Al Scott, and how it
will affect YOU, my friends, fans, and readers...
Quick update to get you all
caught up..... Last time we got together, I was taking a few
weeks off. In January, I made my LakeShore Wrestling debut in
Hilton, NY, then a show for OSPW before K and I took off for a week of
Disney fun. Rumor around is that I was "suspended" for a couple
shows, people have asked about it, I can't speak on that subject at
this time, it WILL be addressed in the future. In February, I
worked a great show for IYFW in Vermont, where JP Black had his final
match ever in the state of Vermont. Very emotional night. I
also got to meet up with Blueue when I was reffing at the UW show in
Elmira. So far this month, I worked for NEW Central at the new
venue, if you have not seen it, it is a VERY nice space, a must
see. I also worked at OSPW, then made my TV taping/Ref debut for
Pier 6 Wrestling. I also got a chance to go watch the NWA show at
the German House, no riots, no fights, pretty good show. I have
another NEW Central show coming up THIS weekend, 3-28-09, InJustice, at
the Auditorium on Main, 5th floor (there are elevators).
As far as finally going to see an
NWA show, I will be brief. And in no way am I trying to start any
heat. I saw some things that they do better, some things NEW does
better, was able to compare the wrestlers and fan base too. NEW
has a more family based show. That does not mean that NWA is a
bad show, it was a good solid show, just a different flavor. It
does not make one "right" and the other "wrong". Look at it like
coffee.... People like coffee, but there are so many
different variations of the taste, you have black, cream, sugar, cream
and sugar, some like an artificial sweetner, some like coffee infused
with a flavor of some kind, and then you have all these same variation
with de-caf coffees..... see the point? It is ALL
coffee. People like coffee. It does not mean that
the strong cup of joe black is better than the half caf with a splash
of whole milk and a packet of Splenda. I will be going again,
when my schedule allows....
When there at the German House, I
was asked by a few fans, and wrestlers, why I was not working the
show. I told them the same thing I posted on a wrestlers message
board a few months ago, no one has called me. I am willing to
discuss the option if they are interested. I am not hard to get
in touch with. I have a link at the top of this page, my email is
all over my myspace account. I've worked on shows in the past
with the decision makers there, they know my work, my reputation.
If they are interested, they will contact me.
In the coming weeks, I will have
the announcement(s) promised above, along with being a busy
beaver... I am going to be working my first "official" show for
NEW Niagara, IYFW in Rutland, VT, OSPW, P6W, UW in Geneva again, a lot
of good shows are upcoming.

Year is winding down...
... and it has been a great ride in
2008. Sometime after the New Year, I will post a recap, and
announce the Tour for 2009. But for NOW.......
Last weekend, I was at OSPW for Legacy IV, and I reffed 3 matches,
along with a request from TRiP to help tutor him in a quick Ref
training. It appeared that he was assigned as a "special" guest
ref for the Hardcore match, Pappa Terry Kadillak v Danny Magic, later
that night. I had a concern with that, and we were able to work
around it, his knee needed to stay protected. I had him show me
some things, and I felt comfortable going away with him. I gave
him the usual advice, if the wrestlers are in the corner, stay on the
ropes, if they are on the ropes, stay in the corner, don't get in the
way of the video camera, and don't get involved in the match....
My first match of the evening was the UnderWorld Cartel's Titus Smith,
with his manager Mr. Perez, going against Eric Emanon, seconded by
Brian Emanon. Not too long into the match, Titus introduced a
chair, but got cut off by Brian before he could use it. I didn't
have a chance to warn Brian about his involvement before I saw Mr
Perez, outside the ring, getting ready to hit Eric with his
flashlight. I told Perez if he did, he was banished from
ringside. In typical UWC fashion, he did it anyway, muttering
something about doing the time, doing the crime, blah blah blah
somethingorother....... I had to have him removed. Then,
before I got a chance to give the same warn to Brian, the Executives at
the announce table made this a 2 on 1 handicap match, with the Emanon
Boyz getting the win over
Titus.
My next match was a 3 way dance for the Number 1 Contender for the
HardCore Title. SuperBeast v Doberman v Ikaika. SuperBeast
ended up outlasting the others, even with a vicious guitar shot to the
head. I did slice my left index finger in the match, when I was
trying to get the guitar unstuck from Beast's hair, but it is healing
nicely.
My last match of the night was a re-match of sorts, Bishop v Rex
Atkins. It was a great battle back and forth, until OSPW Rookie
of the Year David Evans interfered and cost Rex the match.
I have the next few weeks off, so if there are any promoters or bookers
out there, I hope you would think about the Ref!
...meh...
12-02-08
...actually,
not so "meh"... I am doing very well, in fact.
The reffing has slowed down since K made it to town, not that that is a
bad thing. And not really from me passing up on bookings, just
that the feds I usually get a lot of work from are not running as much
in the winter (or not booking me, but I will be back at 2CW). I
was reading a lot of posts, bulletins, emails, web sites, etc, from
other Refs, promoters, wrestlers, fans, etc, about how "thankful" they
are, and what they are thankful for. As I was loading up this
page and getting rid of some older notes, I read about how happy and
thankful I was a little over a year ago, and how I'd be happy with my
career if it ended tomorrow. I still feel that way. I hope
that a lot of the friends I have made would still be friends after it's
done, and not just friends that only have to do with a wrestling
event. I was mentioned in myspace bulletins from others, which
was a surprise... Apparently, I made an impact on a few people
during my travels, all for the good I hope. I have a lot to be
thankful for myself, and I will probably put that on my myspace.
(cross promotion)
So, lets get to the updates before I start getting mushy all
over.. On 10-18, K and I made the trip to Buffalo to work the
OSPW show. It was her first trip to a Buffalo show, so I spent a
little more time introducing her around to all my B-lo peeps. I
reffed three matches, the BoneCrushers crushed the Davidson's in a tag
match, Pappa Terry Kadillac got a cheap win in a HardCore three way
match with Cyrus Nathanial Drake and WarPath, and then an 8 Man (er,
person) Tag match between the Fallen (Deacon, Bishop, Billy Foxx, and
NYX) going against Danny Magic, David Evans, Titus Smith, and Kaitlin
Diemond, with a stipulation that if ANYONE from the Fallen got pinned
in this "First fall to a finish" match, NYX would lose the OSPW Women's
title to Kaitlin. Thankfully, that did not happen, the Fallen
prevailed, and NYX retained the gold.
The next weekend, I was supposed to work in Vermont with SAW, but I had
been very ill the week before, and had to back out. They have a
good young core of refs in training, led by Ref Adam, they are in very
capable hands there. On 11-1, I put on my Head Ref hat for
Ultimate Wrestling's Divine Intervention II in Geneva. I had the
assignments for the three refs that were booked, Ref's Ashe, Jarka, and
myself, and then Bane (from OSPW) showed up, so I fit him in for the
dark match, and for a Battle Royal later in the night, and then Smokey
Paymaster arrived, and out of respect for him, I gave him a match, too,
even though he said he was just there to hang out. I knew he
wanted to ref..... And a trainee that Ashe and I were mentoring
before he got injured in real life showed up, trainee ref Dan, so I put
him in as a Ref for the BR also, and the promoter put him in charge of
keeping the kids off the coffin for the casket match. I was
concerned that we had more refs than we really needed. The crowd
was smaller than last time, but just as appreciative of the good
show. I was scheduled to ref the first match. Terry
Kadillac gabbed the mic and challenged the DeSalles Athletic Director
Ron to a "no holds barred, no DQ, 60 minute time limit" hardcore match,
in retaliation of his being embarrassed by Ron and Doink at the last
show. He even single me out, since I was the ref who gave the
stripes to Ron at the last show. Well, after he was done spouting
out his anger, I rang the bell, Terry grabbed his chair and tried to
hit Ron, but Ron moved, the chair hit the ropes and bounced back into
Terry's face, knocking him out long enough for Ron to get the VERY
quick pin, and the win, in less than 10 seconds. As I was
announcing Ron as the winner to the fans at the school, Terry got up,
yelling at me, pushed me back into a corner, then kneed me in the
stomach, knocking the wind out of me. As I stumbled away from
him, holding onto the ropes, he took a run at me, but I dropped,
pulling the top rope down enough to send him over, and out onto the
cold gym floor. I then made my way back to the locker room to see
the Dr. NOW, I am glad we have extra refs, as I was having issues
catching my breathe, but nothing broken. A few matches later, my
friend Blueue was scheduled to compete, along with Patrick O'Malley, to
challenge ShadoKat for his UW Phantom Division Belt, but real life got
in the way, and Patrick had to work. He would not get off in time
to make the trip, so it was just Blueue, one on one with the
Champ. What happened next happened too fast, but Ashe told me
that as he rang the bell to start the match, Johnny Kadillac got up on
the ring apron for no reason (at the time) and was tying up Ashe and
Blueue. While that was going on, Dane "the Pain" pulled ShadoKat
out of the ring, jumped him pretty good, and rolled him back in, and
Blueue capitalized on that, and became the new Phantom Champ.
Apparently, there was a history with JK and Dane taunting ShadoKat and
his tag partner Tyger Smith, and this was just a part of
it. Tyger and ShadoKat won the tag belts off JK and Dane
later that night. My next match was near the end of the show, I
was still laboring a bit, but was going to be OK, so the Ref corp and I
reffed the Battle Royal to determine the #1 contender for Blueue's
title, and against Terry K's wishes, Curtis Lee Walker won that
battle. I then reffed the Main Event, Nick Paradise v Al Jihad
for the UW World Title, with Nick dispatching the hated Jihad to retain
the title.
The weekend of the 8th was the OSPW 2007/2008 Awards banquet at Ilio
DePaulo's in Buffalo. I found a friend who is a seamstress to
make a "special" vest for me for the night. It has black and
white "ref" stripes on the front, with Royal Blue back and
lining. I figured, I am presenting an award, and I was nominated
for OSPW Officer of the Year, so why not? I felt SUPER honored
just to be considered for the award, really! The Ref team for
OSPW, Head Ref Bruce, Ashe, and I presented the Most Improved award,
with RYOT winning this time. When the nominations for Officer
were read off, I saw that Thunder, Rev Dave and Ref Bruce were also
nominated, so I felt quite pleased that the OSPW Directors included me
to be considered in their nominees' company. There was even a
"Ref Al Scott" chant when they read my name, THAT was all I needed to
show me how my peers feel. And, as expected by me, I didn't win
the plaque, Rev Dave did, but I was a happy ref for the night.
Next up, 11-15, IYFW's Anniversary Show (YEAH FIRST YEAR) and I kept my
Head Ref hat on for that one too. I also had a chance to show off
K to my Rutland friends. Alexzandra was the MC for the night,
wonderful lady, a little wild for me, but, I guess she has to be to be
called the "hardcore cowgirl". I got to meet, and chat briefly
with, an Eastern NY and Vermont ladies wrestling legend,
Demonica. After working on fixing some issue with the ring, we
started off the 2nd year with a GREAT show. I reffed three
matches, first up was HC Loc beating Nick Paradise in what,
again, is a Match of the Night candidate. Seems like any time I
ref Loc or Paradise, it is a great match! Next up was Guy DeSade
beating relative newcomer Este Tipo. I reffed the main event, a
"Survivor Series" elimination rules match, the AXIS (Good Lord Willing,
Mackie Schrodie, and SuperBeast) against the Allies (Drake Evens, JP
Black, and Kriptic). In the end, the Allies won.
The next weekend, I did not work, so I could help K celebrate her BDay,
but we did go with a group to support local Indy Wrestling at the LSW
show. K and I met up with my "adopted daughter" and her real
family, along with Shay and "trainee" Ref Dan. I was hoping to
get a pic with Buddy, but he was busy with family, so....... maybe next
time.....
This past friday, Black Friday, I was in Lockport NY again for N.E.W.'s
Lockport Lockdown. 7 refs were there for 10 matches. The
promoter asked me to make the ref assignments, since Ref Ashe was not
reffing, he was working on Production tasks for the evening. So
now I am assigning matches to 6 refs. A couple matches had
specific ref requests, and were already assigned, but I passed out the
rest of the matches, Bruce Davis got 2, Dan Kreigbaum got the dark and
Main Event featuring the Honky Tonk Man, Dave Jarka got two, and Ref
Mollon (who I FINALLY got to work a show with) was given two. Ref
Darren only got one, but it was the tag match with WWE Legend Virgil,
and I got one, Nick Paradise and Troy Buccannon in a tag team match up
against Gorilla Rob and Rex Atkins. Nick and Troy prevailed in
the end.
Next weekend, I am back at OSPW, and then, the last friday of December,
I will be in Binghamton for 2CW. Anyone need a ref????????
The Times, they are a changing.....
10-16-08
The weather is getting cooler, the
leaves are changing hues, but the action at the Brighton Sport Zone
last Saturday lit up the night. Next Era Wrestling held
it's 4th annual Ascension tournament, the winner of the 8 man tourney
gets a shot at any N.E.W. Title of their choice, at any time.
Before the show, a group of us,
trainees, and workers, (and me) all got together with Mr. 630 Jerrelle
Clark for a seminar. It is the 2nd of his seminars I have been
able to attend. The first part was going over promos, things to
include, stay away from, and we were to give two short promos, both as
Face, and as Heel. A few people balked, but the reasoning was,
(and I have seen this first hand at other feds), you never know if the
promoter will need you to go against character for their show.
Hit the Who, What, Where, When, and Why, and if you can, get to
the How.... A few had great promo's, a few not so much, but he
made this Ref do them too...... The following is what I had
in my mind to say, didn't come out exactly like I would have wanted,
but the gist came out.....
(With
a big smile and excitement in my voice, a little animated with my
gestures) "Ladies and Gentlemen, I am SO happy to invite
you to Next Era Wrestling's Ascension IV Tournament, at the Brighton
Sports Zone, Saturday, October 11th. On that night, the winner of
the tourney will get a chance at any N.E.W. Title of his choosing, at
any time. I am very much looking forward to seeing the likes of
JP Black, Jerrelle Clark, and Patrick O'Malley, guys I keep my eye on,
guys who I learn from every time I watch them in the ring, guys I can
take something away from to help me in my responsibilities in the
ring. (slight pause,
smile gone, head dropped a bit, a bit cocked to the side, right hand
balled into a fist, shaking it) And speaking of taking
away, SuperBeast, former Ascension Tournament winner, I am reminded of
the splitting headache I got from your fore arm to the head, the
bruised ribs from Rhodes at the last Ascension show, the stiff neck
from Truman's brief case at Scars and Stripes 07.... (voice raising in volume and harsher
tone) Yes, I have learned to keep my head on a swivel, to grow
eyes in the back of my skull, so that on October 11th, at the Brighton
Sports Zone, I can keep my eyes on you throughout the N.E.W. Ascension
IV Tournament...... (slowly
turn, scowl at the announcer with the mic, and leave the ring...)
After that, we went over some ring
work, and went over psychology, something a lot of us could use some
work on, a lot of promoters and bookers, too, sorry, it is true, there
are too many matches being booked that don't make sense. Crap
matches will make everyone
look bad. (boom boom)
Well, on to the show.... Before the show even got started, PJ
Hansen and his son, Sean Lane, got into it with each other, and
proceeded to chase each other around the arena throughout the show.....
In the first round of the Tournament, I reffed Jerrelle Clark as he
defeated the Latin Soldier. Next up, was SuperBeast over JC
Money, Patrick O'Malley over RYOT (in a surprise to me), and then JP
Black over Big Rig Brodie Lee. In a non tourney match up, for the
North East Title, I got to ref HC Loc defending his title against Tyger
Smith. I had to DQ HC after he refused to release a spinning toe
hold he had on Tyger, while Mr Smith was fully into the
ropes. I vigorously cautioned HC to release the hold or
face the DQ, he would not let go, and I had no choice but to count the
5 and DQ him. Chance Taylor then came running out to help break
the submission hold. Chance got in a few punches on HC before
Kriptic came out to assist HC, and then it was on. After a flurry
of punches and posturing, Tyger grabbed the mic and asked for a tag
team match up, ON THE SPOT, He and Chance v Loc and Kriptic, all
agreed, and I had the time keeper ring the bell. After about 7 or
8 minutes, HC went to put Tyger back in the same hold from before, but
this time, Tyger got the quick roll up, along with the three count, and
Tyger and Chance were the victors.
Insert intermission with a Kid's Costume Contest here....
In the 2nd round of the Tourney, SuperBeast bested Patrick O'Malley,
and JP Black beat Jerrelle Clark in one of the better matches of the
night. Next up, one on one, Johnny Swift went up against the
returning Marc Krieger. It had been a long time since Marc last
was associated with N.E.W., and in his return match, I counted the 3
for Johnny Swift. (I'm not sure exactly where Mr Krieger has
been, or what he does there, but he will quickly learn NOT to put his
hands on an N.E.W. Official again....) Next up, for the Tag Team
titles, the Spot Monkeys Inc, Brian and Eric Emanon defeated the Blast
from the Past, Terry Kadillak and Freddie Midnight.
This led up to the 2nd annual Costume Battle Royal. There were
about 20 some competitors, a couple army guys, Darth Vader, San Diego
Chicken, Short Round from the Indiana Jones movie, Spiderman, my friend
the Blueue Guy, Barak and McCain, O G Hendrix and his cousin, a court
jester, a skeleton, a Bill's fan, Elvis, and many many more. In
the end, OG, his cousin, and Blueue were left in the ring. OG
called for a Dance off, and his cousin started it off, then OG.
While OG was busting his moves, his cousin took a run at him, and got
eliminated by OG. Then, Blueue tried to dance, and OG took a run
at him, and OG got eliminated, making Blueue the 2nd Annual Costume
Battle Royal Winner.
Just before the Main event, PJ Hansen finally got Sean lane in the
ring, and defeated him by DQ. In the Main Event, the 3rd and
Final round of the Ascension IV Tournament, a rematch of SuperBeast v
JP Black from InJustice, and in this case, a reprise of the Street
Fight Rules. All I had to do was count the 3, and after a few
minutes of Beast and JP taking it to each other, and to the limit,
through the crowd, they brought their rage into the ring, through a
table, and in the end, JP was the Victor, and the N.E.W. Ascension IV
Winner, with the ability to challenge for any N.E.W. title at any
N.E.W. show of his choosing.
Again, Congrats to Blueue on his surprise win, but just be aware, my
friend, the Phantom Division will be looking for you now at the
Ultimate Wrestling show, November 1st at DeSalles High School in Geneva
NY. Keep YOUR head on a swivel...... keep YOUR eyes
open.....
"I'm Ref Al Scott.....
(10-04-08)
I Know... I Know...
9-29-08
It's been a month,
gar, I know, I need to update more often. I hear you, I feel your
pain.... But we will jump right into it-
8-23-08, Beast, Ashe and I made the
long trek past Flubberbusters to
Vermont for the In Your Face Wrestling Holiday INN-Vasion. I have
had the honor of reffing all the IYFW shows, and I must say, this was
the best show, solid card, great matches. In my opinion, one of
the top 5 shows I have ever been a part of. I was able to ref
Superbeast v Kriptic, always a great match up, Beast cruching Kriptin
in the end. I think this is the 3rd time I have reffed these two
together, and they both seem to leave it all out on the mat. Then
I got to ref H C Loc v Maxx Burton, in what has to be in the top 5
matches I have reffed all time, Loc knocked Burton out. I was
absolutely pleased beyond description, watching the match unfurl, the
crowd reactions, definitely a promo DVD match. I also got the
Main Event, JP Black v Fronz Roddy for the IYFW Title, also a great
match, with Roddy winning the Title from JP.
9-6-08, Ashe and I took the hour(ish)
drive to Buffalo to work the OSPW
show. Another pleasant surprise, this was one of the best OSPW
shows I have worked. Al Jihad had to face Kid Chris, then
ShadoKat in a good solid showing, beating them both. I then got
to ref another great match, Chance Taylor defending his OSPW NY Title
against a determined Rex Atkins. Chance was not able to return to
the ring after an incident on the outside, getting counted out, but
keeping the Title.
9-13-08, N.E.W.'s End of Days in
Rochester, 4 matches to ref that
night, two of them easily challenging the Loc/Burton match from a few
weeks prior. JP Black v Nick paradise in a qualifier match
for the Ascension IV Tournament, scheduled for 10-11-08, with JP
teaching Nick a lesson in respect. Next up was H C Loc v Chance
Taylor for the N.E.W. North East Title with Loc submitting Chance, and
causing a stir when he refused to release the hold, forcing me to
reverse the decision. Loc got a tad upset, causing Tyger Smith
and Billy Foxx to come out to keep Loc from tearing me up, and further
damaging Chance's shoulder. Brian and Eris Emanon, with Big Rob
lost to Terry Kadillak, Tony Zucco, and Josh Jordan after some
confusion and miscommunication in the Spot Monkey stable. And
finally, Johnny Swift v Latin Soldier in one of the best showings of
late from Swift, as he finished off the soldier with the "Get Vertical".
9-18 to 9-22, I was on the road,
moving Kay up from Houston, seeing
much of the devastation from Ike along the way.
9-27-08, Kay took her first road trip
to Vermont with me, for SAW's last
regular show of thier season. They will have more shows this
year, but they will be benefits. MTVs Eric and Shane Alden fought
the Hellraisers, Payne and Myzery, to a draw, with a double pin, Payne
and Shane both pinning each opther simultaneously after a
SuperPlex. Then "Shooter" Anthony Storm against Pierre Vachon,
Pierre didn't have much trouble dispatching Shooter.
Next few weeks, I have to work my
regular job this weekend, so no
shows, the next weekend is N.E.W.'s Ascension IV, then the next weekend
is OSPW. After that is a double weekend, 2CW on the 24th, and SAW
on the 25th. 11-1 is UW in Geneva, then the 8th is OSPW Awards
Banquet, and then IYFW in Rutalnd on 11-15. After that, things
are a tad fuzzy...
Oh, and if anyone wants to have some fun, go to the OSPW web
site, sign up for the Fan Forum, and lets have a "write in" campain
to Vote Al Scott for the OSPW Rookie of the Year. "My name is Al
Scott, and I approve these shenanigans."
Thank You ALL for the
Birthday Wishes!!!!!

Big Time (Update)! I'm on My Way, I'm
Makin It...
08-19-08
OK, this
one will go back a bit in time to catch all up on the comings and going
of the Ref over the last few weeks. A lot has happened, a lot of
people have been promoting this site, and a lot of guys are wondering
why it has not been updated. Fun times and adventures that had
not yet been
detailed
for all. So, for Beast, Timmy, and the rest, here goes.....
After the
OSPW outdoor show, a bunch of us went to Friendly's in Buffalo to get
some food. Ashe, Button, Ikieka, Zeke, Foxx, Ashley, me, Boris,
and Beast. After dinner, after getting our "free desert" orders,
the wonderful waitress came back with a BIG sundae, with a candle on
it, and was singing "Happy Birthday" and everyone looked around, trying
to see who's big day it was. Then she stopped in front of
me. "Um, yeah, that's not mine" I thought to myself, since my
birthday is in September. I looked around and Boris is filming
this, and Beast is looking away.... I look at the waitress and
ask who's b-day it is, she stops and says, "It's yours, right?"
By now, even the other tables around have their curiosity piqued.
I say nicely, there must be a mistake it is not my b-day yet, and she
starts over singing, louder, and the other tables start to sing
along. I
look back at Bear, still filming, and Beast is now laughing
uncontrollably..... I reach in my wallet, pull out my license,
hand it to her, and her singing slows..... She looks RIGHT at
Beast and says, "You lied to me?!?" Then, just last Thursday,
after
training, we went to Applebees, for dinner, Beast, Ashe, Ellie, Shay,
Kriptic, Chance, Ikieka, and myself, and Beast got me again, with the
nice waitress unknowingly falling into Beast's evil plot to embarrass
me.
Either way, both waitresses thought I looked WAY younger than I really
am, and I got FREE deserts!!!!!
On 8-2, I was in Franklin County Vermont for their Field Days
Fair. Lots of tractors, LOTS of tractors, and a cool little house
with "all things Maple"... YUMMY Maple Milk
Shake!!!!!!!! Slam Allstar Wrestling had a double shot
outdoor show. Shorts again!!!! I reffed two matches in the
first show, and then at intermission, it started raining pretty
good. A group of us went and had a "Whack-A-Mole" tourney, the
First Annual Tim Dog Invitational, and Timmy Aiight won handily.
It stopped raining, and while we waited for the ring to dry, Timmy
Aiight and I went and rode the Gravitron, along with another ride, I
don't recall the name. I guess the most important part was, we
kind of got to know each other better, and he is not so bad a guy, a
great bonding moment. We got 2 matches into the second show
before the show got canceled because of the rain. Timmy, Dan,
Adam, and I ended up slip-n-sliding on and through their ring, their
canvas has a smooth plastic like surface. Good times!
The next weekend I will not spend too much time on. I trusted
someone too much, and passed up working on 2 Canadian shows, also the
SAW BBQ, while waiting for a trip to the TNA PPV in NJ that was never
going to happen anyway, and I am still waiting to hear what lame excuse
will be used. Lied to my face several times. But it's cool
in the long run, because I went and bought a new car!!!!!!
This last weekend, with my new PAIN CLINIC t-shirts in tow, I worked
another outdoor Friday night in Syracuse, 3 matches, got to see Blue
Meanie and Scotty Too Hotty again! Cool guys, if you EVER need a
"name" for your fed, I HIGHLY recommend either of these great guys for
your event!!!! Saturday, another SAW show in Vermont, 2 matches,
and time to hang out with the great people there! I got someone
to take my pic in front of the SAW sign while I was wearing my PAIN
shirt, it's my myspace default at the moment. Sunday, I went to
Hooligans in Webster for the WWE PPV with Shay,
Dan, Beast, Ellie, and myself, and I kept looking over my shoulder,
waiting for the waitress to sing those words.....
This weekend coming up, a trip to Rutland Vermont with my PAIN shirt,
to work a show for In Your Face Wrestling, one of the Feds I am Head
Official for, and I should ref my 100th match for 2008 on that
night. It should be a great show, if you are in the area, go to
the Holiday Inn on Rt 7 at 7!!!!!!!
Holy Schnibitz, Bat Man!

Hey all, quick update for now, more
details coming soon, but WOW, what a night Saturday in
Binghamton. Last time I was there with 2CW, there was a shower of
chairs, and a chant to "kill the Ref". This time, not a "near"
riot, more like a melee, when a chair was thrown by a "fan" from near
the front door, aimed at the NWA victors of the main event, hitting
Vida, and Brodie and the gang ran out after the coward(s) that
instigated it. I will post more later.....
07-20-08
be careful reffing in shorts.....
...because
mat burn hurts. But that's ok, it was something I wanted to do,
and it was OK with OSPW Head Ref Bruce Davis. OSPW had an outdoor
show in Downtown Buffalo at the Puerto Rican Festival. It was
warm, especially with the dark mat soaking up the sun, but with the
occasional cool breeze coming in off Lake Erie, it was not so bad...
til the rain came....
OK- First off, a bit of
advice to guys who watch what goes on in
the main feds on TV recently, and think it might be a good
idea... specifically, having an open contract to challenge for
any title at any time. Thanks to the likes of Edge (twice, I
believe) and CM going going after the reigning current champ after he
has been beaten down, and is not in the right condition to defend
himself (oh, include the current N.E.W. "champ" in this scenario,
Kriptic, you schmuck) to get the quick win.... Danny Magic
tried that after an eight man tag match this past weekend. I
reffed a match where the team of Danny Magic, Rex Atkins, David Evans,
and Tony "HEY" Zucco took on TRiP, Brian and Eric Emanon, and Chance
Taylor. It was back and forth, a couple of planches and a suicide
dive, every man tried to one up the other by hitting their "finishing
move" and all of the pins were broken up, until Rex got a quick roll up
on Chance to get the win for his team. Chance was definitely not
100%, and Danny, who had been avoiding him up to this point, decided
today was the day to turn in HIS shot at the NY Title, currently held
by Chance. He jumped into the ring, I made sure this was what he
wants, as he only gets the one shot, he said YES, I had the time keeper
ring the bell, and before you knew it, it was all over.
Chance Taylor.... is STILL OSPW NY
Champion. Danny too quick
action against Chance, but the champ was not as hurt as Danny thought,
and QUICKLY turned the tables, and knocked Danny clean out. It
was a good minute and a half, two minutes after the match was over
before he finally came around. I was "this close" to calling for
the Doctor..... Moral of the Story~ just cause they do it
on TV, don't mean it can be done in real life.....
In the second half of the show, I
had the pleasure of reffing the OSPW
Women's Championship match, with the "Anti-Diva" Kaitlin Diemond
challenging the currently champ, NYX. Kaitlin tried hard to get
some offense going in the beginning, and she might have been further
hampered by the light rain that had been falling for some time, even
got NYX off her feet for a moment, but it was ALL NYX. A quick
choke slam that buried Kaitlin into the center of the ring, and it was
done. NYX, still your OSPW Women's champ!
Next week, Ref Ashe and I are off
on a triple shot weekend, N.E.W.'s
Scars and Stripes in Brighton at the Sports Zone on Friday, 2CW in
Binghamton on Saturday (last time I was there, last year, the fans
wanted me dead), and on Sunday, we go to Mountain Top, PA, for another
try with POW. New management, new attitude, new beginning, we
will see, I personally am VERY optimistic.
The next weekend after that, I
have a double shot for SAW on the
Saturday, at the Franklin County Fair Days, another outdoor show, it
will be a lot of fun!.
If any one wants to contact me for
a booking for the 3rd of August, or
for any date the next weekend, please contact me at

OH CANADA....
Last weekend, I went with Ashe and
Bruce to the NPW show in Crystal Ridge, Ontario, Canada.
Originally, I was going to get one match, but Ashe ended up with a
locker room opportunity that opened up some matches. First up was
an impromptu match with Benton County Arkansas' own "Confederate
Redneck" Chris Kidner. He was in an ornery mood, after a long
drive to the north country, and finding out he was not booked for a
match. Taking things into his own hands, he called out anyone in
the back for a match. I was near the entrance, waiting for my
first scheduled match, RYOT v Sniper, when the promoter pushed me out
the entrance as the Killer Steves came out to answer the
challenge. OK, that is a bit of a misnomer, as there was no real
challenge to the contast, they handed Chris his head quite easily,
slamming him into his Conferderate flag with a Double Fisherman
Suplex. After that, RYOT pinned Sniper to earn a spot in the main
event, a four way elimination for the NPW World Title. I was the
outside ref for the Main Event, the Four Way Elimination, Ryot, who
earned a spot earlier, tried hard, but was the first one out, with the
three others ganging up on him. Next out was "Go Time" Chris
LaPlante, then Kryss Thornn was eliminated by the new NPW World
Champion, BlackJack Phoenix.

Happy Oneth of the Month!!
Wow-
Lots happened, and I didn't update, sorry folks.... Let's
see... OK. On my trip to Vermont at the first of the month,
I got caught up with allergies, and ended up sick. Even missed a
day of regular work after a trip to the Dr. So when the N.E.W.
show rolled around, I was still really sick. Since Ref Ashe had
the foresight to procure a lot of refs, I had no problem passing on
some spots. I booked myself in just two matches, giving Ashe the
one he wanted, Ref Bruce got a couple (and the Main), and then the new
guys, Dan, Darren, and DJ, all got a couple. I was on a corner
for the Battle Royal, and I got to ref the Street Fight between Billy
Foxx and SuperBeast. My second Street Fight with Beast in a
week. Right before the match, Foxx was told if he didn't get the
win in this match, he would never get a shot at Kriptic for the title,
so Foxx pulled out the win somehow. It was a fun night, got to
meet Marc, Ferrari, and Buddy (as seen below), missed seeing the kiss
of the night (some say kiss of the year), and worked in front of my
largest crowd to date (500+). Hopefully, we can get back to that
venue again, looks like the one scheduled for 7-25 there has been put
on hold...
I had to work my regular job on the 21st, but went with a small group
to see the P6W on the 22nd. It was cool to see some old friends,
and made some new ones there. It was fun to see the show taped
for TV like that. Ring was a little smaller than I am used to
seeing.
We took a road trip to SAW in Vermont on the 28th. Beast, Swift,
Paradise and I took the 7 hour each way drive. I got to work 4
matches, making my total worked for the first 6 months of this year
75. I got the opening match, Northern Stud v Maxx Burton, with
Stud pulling out the win. That Lindsay Lynn is always trying my
patience, I might add. She definitely is NOT like her sister
Georgia, sometimes I wish she was.... I got the match right
before intermission, Johnny Swift v Nick Paradise, Swift capitalized on
a missed flying headbutt, got vertical, and got the pin. After
intermission, Timmy Aiight v Franz Roddy, who was in a really fowl mood
after being introduced by the fill in announcer as being from Australia
instead of Austria. Oh, he was LIVID. Yes, the normal
announcer was missed! Franz got the win over Timmy. then,
in the main event, before Dick Wagner announced the wrestlers, he
announced "the ref for the main event, from Rochester NY...."
looked at me with a weird smile... RUH ROH, this isn't going to
be good.... "refalscott.com..." I stepped over to him to see what
the card said, and yes, it was written, in a different hand writing, he
said it was Lindsay's sister Georgia from Tennessee that did it, and I
looked over to see her laughing and smiling..... GAR! He
then announced Bull v SuperBeast in the Main Event. It was pretty
one sided for most of the match, Beast had his way with Bull for most
of the match, and then Tim St Pierre tried to get involved, so I had to
get him off the apron, when he finally got down, I heard a crash, and
turned to see Bull on the mat holding his head, and Beast with a chair
standing over him, so I did what I had to do, as it was obvious Beast
used the chair on Bull, and DQ'd Beast.
I am not currently booked for
this weekend coming up, as I never heard back from the one fed in PA,
and the others that were going there have not been contacted back
either. SO, if there are any
feds in need of a REF, contact me. Also, the next weekend,
the 12th, I am available then, so get in touch with me. After
that is the OSPW show at the Puerto Rican festival in Buffalo, then on
the 25th is the next N.E.W. show, the 26th is 2CW in Binghamton (they
wanted to see me dead last time I was there), and then on the 27th, I
was asked back to POW in PA.

new ramblings
Hello all! Greetings from my
humble abode. I am relaxing, and recouping, from a great weekend
in Vermont, working In Your Face Wrestling's Coronation Weekend.
I had a few hilites, news about future shows, title changes, and titles
won. I was given the honor of reffing the match to determine the
Vermont Women's Champtionship on Friday, between Lexie Fyfe and Lindsay
Lynn. You may remember Lexie as "Hillary" on the Raw the night
before the PA Primaries. She pinned Lindsay to become the first
every Vermont Women's Champ. I also reffed the "Spirit of
Scotland" James Wallace, with Drake Evans, going up against the team of
Franz Roddy and Al Jihad. To cap off the night, a Battle Royal,
where the remaining 2 at the end face off on Saturday for the IYFW
World Title. It ended up being JP Black and Franz Roddy.
When Beast got eliminated, he tweaked his knee rather oddly, and was
quite gimpy, even a tad whiney I might say. That night, we had
Beast and Al Jihad in a room with Ref Adam, Ashe, and myself.
That was quite the interesting evening. But for Beast, it was
fortunate, as Jihad did have some medical schooling from his home
country, and was able to assist in the healing. On Saturday, I
had the honor of reffing the Women's rematch, a submission match, with
Lindsay this time coming out on top of Lexie to gain the Title
belt. I also got to ref the Marble City Street Fight between
Superbeast and Big Vigo. Definitely the toughest, hardest hitting
match I reffed to date. Vigo pinned Beast's carcass in the middle
of the ring for the win, but from the way they fought back into the
locker room, I dare say this is not over by a long shot. I also
reffed James again, this time against Maxx Burton. Maxx pulled
out the win in the end. Also, mark your calendars for 8-23-08,
the next IYFW action in Rutland Vermont.
This Saturday, N.E.W. has a show in Lockport NY, and this will be a fun
night for me. We could potentially have 6 refs for 10
matches. That, and I am still not over a sinus infection, so I
will be scaling myself back for the night. It will be a fun
night, so if you are in the area, and want to see Jimmy Snuka, and a
Battle Royal, come on out!!!
I found out at work today that I have to work on the 21st, but maybe
not the 28th, so we will have to see how that goes. It does not
look like I will get to the 75 matches year to date through the first
half of the year that I was on pace for, but it is all goodness, that
doesn't matter to me that much. I am at 69, maybe 2 on Saturday,
and if I go to SAW at the end of the month, 2 more, so about 73 matches
in 24 shows for 6 months. We'll see. See y'all on the
road!!!
06-04-08
trying to stay "current"
Not much of an update here.
(understatement)
N.E.W.'s Ultimate Clash was
last weekend, and my, my, my, some surprises in the Armory, HUH?
Junior Spot Monkeys, Swift
pinning Rhodes, Trouble in Paradise invoking a little know contract
clause to defend the N.E.W. Tag Team Title belts on behalf of the Ring
Crew express, only to lose them to Spot Monkeys Inc, and then
SuperBeast beating the tar out of Foxx, with Foxx prevailing anyway,
only to have Kriptic cash in the Ascension III Trophy to challenge Foxx
for the World Title on the spot, and pinning a beaten and defenseless
broken, shell of a Foxx...... And that was all in the FIRST
half of the show!
The Clash saw JC Money start
against RYOT, the introduction of Vermont Wrestling legend Maxx Burton,
the unexpected arrival of Doink the Clown, "the eyes" revealed, twin
BoneCrushers, and the chair shots, yes, I said shots, plural of shot,
heard around the world as HC Loc turned on his old friend from the road
JP Black, to win the Ultimate Clash.
...oh, and ShadoKat quit N.E.W....
This weekend coming up, I have two shows for In Your Face Wrestling in
Rutland, Vermont, then the next weekend, N.E.W. returns to the Buffalo
area, Lockport NY to be exact. After that. my next CONFIRMED
booking is 7-12-08, N.E.W. Scars and Stripes in Rochester. I have
not yet confirmed for the 21st, or for the 5th of next month, and the
weekend of the 28th, my regular Mon to Fri 9-6 job calls.... End of the
Quarter stuff, I have to be there. If I don't ref, I'll have 3
weeks in a row away from wrestling, the longest stretch since June July
of last year..... WOW..... I had no
clue....

Catching Up
Oh my, a fun
filled long road trip came to a close, setting up for the finale of the
month at N.E.W.'s Ultimate Clash at the Main Street Armory In Rochester
NY on Saturday 5-31-08. If you need tickets, contact me!!!!
It's going to be a fun night!!!! OH, and here
is a picture of the wonderful person Kaitlin, who took the photo I
used on my latest T Shirt, wearing said T shirt!!
It all started with a trip to Northeast Wrestling on 5-3-08. I
was not booked, and did not work. I am hoping someday to work for
them. On 5-9-08, I flew to Houston to see my Girlfriend and
family, and got a chance to work a show in my home state of Texas with
Coastal Championship Wrestling on the 10th. I reffed the whole
show, smaller show, just 4 matches that night. While there, I had
the "pleasure" of "enjoying" sushi for the very first time, a Scorpion
Roll, with tempura shrimp, cream cheese, peppers, rice paper, rice,
shredded crab, and a hot sauce drizzled on top. It was ok, really.
On 5-17-08, Chance Taylor, Billy Foxx, and I took off to go work the
SAW show in Vermont. I was able to get them a spot on the show,
and I got to hang out with my VT friends for a bit. I reffed 3
matches, one that bled right into a rematch. We tried to drive
back that night, but ended up staying over in Glens Falls. On the
way back, just west of Amsterdam on 90, a Nissan passed us with two
attractive ladies waving at Chance and Foxx. They didn't wave at
me, I was in the back reading. They played leap frog for a few
miles, passing and waving, road flirting. Finally, Foxx wrote a
sign with his cel number asking them to call. More miles of road
flirting, and then the cel rang. Now, he's on the phone with
"Anna", and before you know it, Chance is on his with "Lisa". A
few miles later, they both looked at me, saying that the ladies are
going to Turning Stone, and do I mind making a quick stop there?
SURE!!! I don't mind, I like video poker, I'll stay away and let
them be boys..... it was a good side trip, I ended up leaving
with 210.00 more than I arrived with, had a load of fun, and got to
find an old kids card game that is now a Casino table game, WAR.
It is SO easy, and unexpectedly profitable. The ladies earned
enough in Comps to be able to cover almost all of a buffet for all of
us, even though I was the 5th wheel in the equation. While there,
Foxx and "Anna" were on one side of the table, but Foxx was up getting
more food at this time, and on my side, it was myself, then Chance,
then "Lisa", sitting and chatting. The ladies were chatting about
how funny it was that the passenger in their car ended up with the
passenger in our car, which is what she was hoping for, and that the
driver ended up with the driver, and how much fun it was. I
looked over and thanked them so much for making me feel like I was in
3rd grade again, being picked last for kickball, and they all laughed,
since I was alone. (But it's ok, I have someone GREAT!!!)
So I then mentioned that the conversation may have gone like "Oh, the
gut in the front seat is cute", "Oh, the guy driving is cute", "OH,
look at the creepy old guy in the back seat...", and "Lisa" went
pale...... She asked, "You heard that???!??!??" Seems
that had actually happened, but they have dubbed me since then as the
coolest creepy old guy they know!!!!! It's all goodness!!!!!
Next up was the long Memorial Day weekend. I had Friday off from
work, and waited for Ashe to get back from his delivery run. I
picked him up at his job, and we drove to work the 2CW show in
Amsterdam NY that night. I was set for 3 matches, one ended up as
two as the winner of one was immediately challenged by another
wrestler. I did have the honor of reffing the wonderfully
talented Portia and Nikki again. I love watching them work.
We stayed over in Amsterdam, and waited for kriptic Keegan to pick us
up in the morning. He was going out to FTW in long Island alone,
so, for the sake of saving gas and money, we reluctantly agreed to get
along to save. The trip wasn't too bad, we found some common
ground. plus, he was having some congestion issues from the
pollen and such, so he was not as antagonistic or abrasive as he
usually is. Still, I stayed out of range from him in the back
seat. Now, I am working this show based on some "surprisingly"
good recommendations from both Kriptic and Cory Kastle, to the Owner of
FTW. There had been a lack of refs in the area recently. I
had been emailing the owner myself, and had been told to bring an extra
ref, and he'll see what he can do. We got to the roller hockey
arena, and got ready for the show. Right before show time, we
found that Ashe was not booked after all, and I was a little upset, but
I was OK. I felt bad that my mentor came with me on another trip
and didn't get booked, two trips in a row.... I was scheduled to
work 3 matches, and just like the 2CW show, one winner was challenged
right away, and it became 4 matches. One of them, was reffing the
Legend himself, Jake "the Snake" Roberts. He was very polite,
very quiet, I got to chat with him briefly. I had bigger stronger
sense of "chills" running through me more on that entrance than I had
for the Sandman show, as I had been watching Jake since the early,
early 80's in Houston. After the show,m we loaded up and tried to
drive as far as we could to the next show, before stopping for the
night in Ledgeworth, NJ. We were going to Bushkill, PA, to work
the Pride of Wresting show with Al Snow. Ashe, again, was not
booked for the show, but I was told to bring him along, as they will
see what they could do, also. I got scheduled for 3 matches, plus
an outside ref for the Battle Royal, and they gave Ashe a couple
outside ref spots, one the Battle Royal, the other for the Main Event
with Al Snow. I was able to chat for a bit with Al, he remembered
me from the N.E.W. show, and we had a short pleasant talk. We
picked up Brodie Lee there for the ride back home, and we drove back
after the show. It seems in that part of PA, all the restaurants
and stores close up at 11, so, we had to start the trip hungry.
We eventually found a WalMart along the way, and stopped there for late
night road munchies. We got dropped back off in Amsterdam to get
my car, and Brodie and Kriptic left for home. Ashe and I ended up
taking a nap at the next rest stop, and after dropping him off back at
his car, i got home about 11 am.
It was a LONG weekend, but very fun. My first triple shot
weekend, I got 12 matches, got to chat with Al again, reffed Jake,
worked for 2 new feds, was immediately invited back to the next show at
FTW, and got loads of experience to draw from in the future.
05-23-08
I know, I know......
...I owe you all an update, and what a
doozie it'll be, when I get to it....
I worked in Texas for CCW, ate sushi for the first time, worked SAW in
VT last weekend, and became the worlds greatest "creepy old guy" while
going on a side trip to Turning Stone, and going home 200.00 in the
black, working a triple shot this weekend, and hopefully meeting Jake
"the Snake" tomorrow, and working with Al Snow again on Sunday.
Keep tuned, updates soon!!!!!
05-05-08
I miss ONE show, and THIS happens.....
Since I started working with OSPW last year, I had not missed a single
show til this past Saturday, when I was at a Northeast Wrestling show
in Thiells, NY. In my absence, this
happened.... take a look..... and the surprise of it
all, is the reaction from the man who STARTED this whole mess....
Say it ain't so, Pappa!!!!
04-29-08
It be thata way thum tammth
What a ride in the Bidneth....
Last weekend was a fun time. Johnny and Mrs Swift and I went to
Newburgh NY, to go to the Northeast Wrestling show, featuring Velvet
Sky (Talia Madison), Awesome Kong, Samoa Joe, Kurt Angle, Rowdy Roddy
Piper, and Johnny Swift. It was SO cool to watch one of my
primary wrestling trainers work in front of his biggest crowd to date,
over 1500 boistrous fans. But, alas, he got pummelled by Michael
Sane, who basically disected him mercilessly in the ring. It was
a fun show though, VERY WARM, and before the show, got to run into old
friends from the road, TNE's Roxie Cotton and Cory Kastle. Roxie
was in the Gauntlet match facing Awesome Kong. I also got to
watch a VERY entertaining ref, Sean Hansen. There are elements of
his "style" that I would like to incorporate in my work, mostly how he
interacts with the wrestlers. He was fun to watch, but we had to
leave right after the show, so I didn't get to speak with him.
Maybe if he works the show in Thiells NY on May 3. I didn't get
to work that show, maybe this one coming up, I can hope, right?
They have my DVD....
The next day, we loaded up the car and headed north to Bennington,
VT. It was a CPW show that Swift was booked for, and I ended up getting 2 matches
to ref. It was a cool venue, promoter fed us well, it was a fun
evening. My first match was a 3 way dance with Johnny Swift,
Horace White, and a new kid I had seen around, but not yet reffed, CJ
Scott. I think he has potential. It was a pretty good back
and forth match til I got too close to Horace and ended up with CJ's
boot to the side of my head. I was ok, dazed, but I was still
able to continue, until I was pulled out of the ring from behind and
stomped. I tried to get back in the ring as soon as I could, and
Vigo was helpful enough to get me back in the ring, and CJ got the pin
on Horace. My next match was Scott Scarsdale v "Bombshell" Bert
Williams, with Bert getting the win. The rest of the time, I got
to hang out and chat with guys I don't get to see often, like Troy
Buchannon. We hung out after, I got to talk with the lovely,
though pain in my arse, Lindsey Lynn, and my pal SAW Ref Adam.
This past weekend, Ashe and I drove to Highgate VT, to go to the SAW
show. Ashe was not booked, but we were hopeful he might get a
match. When we got there, we met up with Adam, the head ref
there, and he said he'd see what he could do. They have a ref
trainee that needs the ring time, so he got 2 matches, and Adam was
doing the Iron Man match, so he took 2 matches, and Adam had me down
for 3. There was an open spot on the card for a possible 8th
match, and I was hoping that there would be one so Ashe could get one
in. But, alas, just the 7, so Ashe got to watch the show as a
fan. My first match was the Green Mountain Grapplers Hank and
Earl v The Alden Brothers. The Aldens won after a good
match. Next up was the Cruiserweight Champ Ricky Williams v
LoSaw, a new guy. As I was checking Ricky, LoSaw jumped him, so I
had the timekeeper ring the bell. A couple minutes later, Ricky
had LoSaw in a roll up and got the win. LoSaw was upset, claiming
he never heard the bell to start the match, and was demanding a rematch
on the spot, so after much discussion between LoSaw, Ricky, and Ricky's
manager, I restarted the match, and it lasted maybe 30 seconds before
Ricky rolled him up again for the win, again. After intermission,
I reffed Northern Stud, with the lovely, but dangerous, Lindsey Lynn,
going up against Michael Monroe. Michael won by using quick
thinking to avaoid being counted out with Stud.
Upcoming schedule, as can be seen on my MySpace calendar, has
me going to Theills, NY for a Northeast Wrestling show with the Swifts
again this Saturday, the next Saturday, I AM REFFING IN TEXAS FOR CCW!!!!!!!! The next Saturday,
back in Highgate, VT for SAW. Then, I have a long, fun, first
time experience weekend. On Friday the 23rd, 2CW PWHOF Show in
Amsterdam, NY, Saturday, FTW in Moriches, NY, and Sunday, POW in
Bushkill, PA, with Al Snow (YES!!!). Yes, kiddies, a triple shot
weekend! The next weekend is back to back shows in Rutland for
IYFW, then CPW in Bennington, VT the next weekend. The weekend
after that, I am available, so if you want Ref Al Scott at your show,
party, corporate event, bar-mitzvah, whatever, contact me at
refalscott@juno.com!

feelin pretty good for an old fart
Well, it has been a while since I
updated, and a LOT has happened. So without further adeu, here we
go....
3-29-08 was N.E.W.'s
InJustice. I only worked two matches that night, as I was
transitioning into a new, additional role with N.E.W. I am still,
and will continue to be, a Ref for N.E.W., but I am also helping out
coordinating things on show day. I reffed Kriptic v Chance
Taylor, a good match, Chance got the pinfall after Kriptic decided to
confront me about catching him trying to cheat.... I then got the
Main Event of the evening, not just a career hilight match, but life
hilight as well. I got to ref Al Snow and Johnny swift against
Jerrelle Clark and Jerry F'n Lynn. At one point in the match, I
"inadvertantly" pinned Jerrelle for a 3 count, and then, right after
that, "pinned" Jerry Lynn for a 3 as well. I pinned two former
TNA stars in one match!!!! It was a good, FUN match, until
Jerrelle got busted open near the end. Team Pumpkin Head won the
match.
The next day I had to
work while a bunch of guys went to the Al Snow Wrestling Seminar at the
Den. I got to hear a lot of fun stories. That night, Jerry
and Al were guests of honor at Rhorbach's WM XXIV PPV party, and I got
a chance to speak with each of them about what I can do to be a better
ref. Valuable info, wonderful guys, I hope they come back soon.
Then next week was
Ultimate Wrestling's Divine Intervention in Geneva NY. My good
friend Blueue was in the Phantom Battle Royal, and finished 5th.
A GREAT showing compared to his BR debut last October at N.E.W.'s
Ascension. I was supposed to ref Doink the Clown v Terry
Kadillak, but Doink and the 300 plus fans in attendance wanted the DHS
Athletic Director Ron to ref the match, so I gave him my ref shirt, and
sat ringside near Joey "the Bruiser"s desk, where he and Big Jay were
doing commentary. It was a fun match, with Ron pinning Terry for
the win. After that, was Geneva's first ever TLC match, with JK
and Dane "the Pain" going against Crazy Chris and Horace White, for the
UW Tag Team Title belts, hanging from the ceiling. It was a
brutal affair, and in the end, JK and Dane grabbed the belts to become
the Tag Team Champs. My next match was the gauntlett for the
Green Dojo Title, held at the time by, sheesh, Kriptic. Why do I
ref this arrogant piece of crap so often? Oh, well, he started
out to face, in succession, two minutes apart, in elimination format,
Johnny Swift, Sunny Moon, Deacon, and Rae Rae. No one was
eliminated until Rae Rae was taken away by SuperBeast, who brought
flowers and candy for her, and she never came back, so she was
out. Shortly after that, Sunny pinned Johnny, then Deacon
eliminated Sunny, and then Kriptic, after missing several times, finaly
pinned Deacon. So Kriptic was able to retain the Green Dojo
Title, and he relished the fact that I (again) had to raise his hand as
victor......
Earlier in the night, Geneva's own Nick Paradise pinned ECW original HC
Loc, to earn an open contract to challenge for any UW title at any UW
show, and was at ringside to watch UW World Champ Mat Bomboy defend
that title against RYOT. I got to ref that match, and after a
hard fought, back and forth match, Mat pinned RYOT to retain said
championship belt, and Nick brought the belt to Mat and applauded his
efforts. He then announced that he wants to challenge Mat for
that title, but, at a later time when Mat is fresh and ready to
go. Mat took exception to the thought that either of them were
less than ready, and said let's do this now. Nick accepted.
I checked with Mat to make sure he wanted to do this after his grueling
match with RYOT, and he was adamant, he wanted to defend, right
then. So I had the timekeeper ring the bell. Mat went off
on an offensive flurry, and it really looked like Nick was not going to
last, but Mat slipped up, and Nick cinched in a submission, and Mat
tapped out. Mat was a complete gentleman, hugging and presenting
Nick with the UW belt as the lockerroom came out to celebrate with the
wreslters and the crowd. It was a GREAT evening, and I really
look forward to working in Genevea again, hopefully soon.
This past weekend, I
worked 2 shows for 2CW, friday night in Watertown, in front of about
500 ravenous fans, and then saturday in front of a Standing Room Only,
raucus crowd. Friday, I had two matches, first up was Loca Vida
and JD Love going up against, and beating, NWA's own Hellcat and Pepper
Parks. The second match I worked that night was Gordy and the
Wyld Stallyns against Ajax820 and AMiL. I vaguely remember the
first part of the match, as I ended up on the floor ringside about half
way through. But with the outcome, i felt no review was
needed. During the match, AMiL and the Stallyns battled back to
the lockerroom, leaving Gordy and Ajax, both the legal men anyway,
alone in the ring to fight it out. During that time, I got caught
out of position and got in Gordy's way, he took exception to it, pushed
me across the ring, and then threw me through the ropes to the floor
below. That was the vague part, but as I worked back into the
ring, AMiL and the Stallyns fought back to the ring, and the Killer
Steves were not far behind. Ajax was pinning Gordy and the
Stallyns, and I counted a weary one, two, three for the win going to
Ajax820 and AMiL.
Last night in Syracuse, 3 matches, the first was ZS3 and Isis Ehpex
going up against JD Love and the Blue Meanie. JD and the Meanine
were victorious in a great matchup. Next, was a handicap match,
Main Event Jason Axe and Max Bauer against Matt Hyson. Max and
Axe did allow Spike to get a partner, but of THEIR choosing, and with
prodding from the crowd's chants, picked J Freddie, the camera guy for
2CW to be Spike's partner. J Freddie pretty much got his head
handed to him in the match, but thanks to his quick thinking, and a
miscommunication between Axe and Max, J Freddie rolled up Max, and won
his first ever match. (During that match, after a failed pin
attempt by Spike, he was thrown back into me, and I caught something
square on the top on my head, and I had to roll out to get my
composure. I saw stars for about 15 seconds, but was aware of the
goings on in the ring. I had a head ache, I am better now, thanks
Doc Winestock!) The third match was the much anticipated (but not
by me) Tables rematch, the Killer Steves against AMiL. Last year,
pretty much all the refs got hit, punched, put through a table (sorry
Ashe) or somehow involved in a bad, bad way. So I was officiating
with my head on a swivel, watching that I don't become the next
casualty. It was a great match, and fortunately for me, it ended
without incident, when both K Pusha and K Murda went through different
tables, and I announced the Killer Steves the victors. Battered,
bruised and bloodied, they stumbled into the ring, I raised their
hands, and then all heck broke loose. Dizzie ran in, saying that
the contract stated AMiL v Killer Steves, and last time he checked, he
was a member of AMiL, and he had not gone through a table. He
proceeded to set up a table, put Cruz on it, I was yelling at him to
stop, the match is over, Steves win, Steves win, but he wouldn't hear
it. He took Studly to the top rope, and put both Steves through
one table, and announcer bob Foley had no choice but to proclaim AMiL
as the winners. Fuelled by this, AMiL and Dizzie started stomping
the Steve McKenzie, while Ashe, Jack Trades, and Dr Winestock were
attending to Steve Cruz. AMiL looked, unsuccessfully for another
table, and in the process, my head no longer swiveling, got clocked my
K Pusha, and I lay in the coner turnbuckles, out cold. When I
came to, Ashe was there to help me back to the lockerroom, and got the
dr for me. (Thanks Ashe, you rock!!!!) And to anyone who
might be reading this, Steve Cruz is alive, he is OK, and other than a
head ache and a sore knee, will probalby be fine. Oh, and I will
be ok, someday.....

Back Home
Fun fun, I say. Not much of an
update at this time, as this is a pretty light month for me. I
went to the OSPW show in Buffalo on the 8th and worked 4 matches.
Bad Night. I got hurt in two of them. The first match was a
4 on 4 tag match, with the team ot Chance Taylor, Billy Foxx, Curtis
Walker, and Eric Emanon against the team of Danny Magic, Superbeast,
Terry Kadillac, and Steve Davidson. It ended up as a cluster at
the end, and most of the guys ended up outside the ring, and I had to
go out and check up on them. When I got done there, Danny was
pinning Chance, so I counted the three and Danny's team won. Next
up was a match with RYOT taking on Warpath. It was actually a
pretty good, solid match, til I noticed RYOT's manager, Damien, trying
to get on the apron again. While I was telling him to back off, I
also saw ShadoKat slinking around the ring, and while I was not
looking, got hit from behind. Pretty good hard solid shot to the
small of my back. And out goes the ref. Hurt prety good.
I've had kidney stones before, not quite that bad, but it was not
fun. Head Ref Bruce let me rest up before my next match, which
was later in the card of matches, it was ShadoKat going up against
Tyger Smith. That ShadoKat lives the motto, "Dare 2 Dream", and
unfortunately that night, it was a bad dream, as Tyger made him
submit. Right after that was Johnny Seven v Brian Emanon, and it
was shaping up to be a good match too, til a quick reveresed reversal,
right into me, and there goes the ref again. I saw Brian coming,
and he did try to avaiod me, but me hit head on. He ended up
pinning Johnny.
I unveiled my new "Got Stripes?"
shirt at that show, I gave Kait the first one made, as it was a picture
she took that is on the front, and then I proceeded to sell 4 of them
that night. (I heard I out sold everyone one else...)
And then, on my trip to Houston, I sold two more, gave one to my sis,
so I now have 8 of the new shirts out there right now. Houston
was fun, Rodeo, Mexican food, I went to Booker T's PWA show in
Pasadena, dinner with the family, etc etc etc, fun fun fun.
I am off on the 22nd, and then on
the 29th, N.E.W. is hosting InJustice, featuring Al Snow, Jerry F'n
Lynn, and Jerrelle Clark. If you need your tickets, let me
know!!!! I have also sent out 3 promo dvd's, trying to get booked
in other feds, we will see how that goes.
03-02-08
I'm just sitting here watchin the wheels go round and round...
Oh, me, where to start.. Well,
after the last update might be good. OK, I eventually got through
the work week, and was back off to SAW in Vermont for the
weekend. It was their first show in Alburgh, and the first show
of any kind there in many years. We were all VERY suprised and
relieved to see well over 200 boistrous fans there. I worked two
matches, both tag matches. The first match I worked, the 2nd on
the card, I finally got to work with Vince Beach and Reed James, "Those
80's Guys" as they faced off with Black and Blue, "the Bad Guys".
All was going well for me til I was out of position, and ended up
taking a double axe handle from Vince off the ropes. I got
knocked loopy a bit, somehow ended up on the floor, looking back into
the ring to hear Ref Adam count the three count pinfall FOR "Those 80's
Guys". I lumbered into the ring to make the change to disqualify
them for striking the ref. I know the Ref Adam was just doing
what was expected of him by coming out to take over when he thought I
was out. I have done the same here in N.E.W. when my Teacher and
Mentor Johnathon Ashe got knocked out a few shows ago. He's a
good ref, in time he will be a really good ref, and asset to any Fed.
I spent the rest of the show
resting, took some headache meds, a bag of ice for the head, some
MONSTER JAVA Energy Drink, and I was feeling up to going again. I
was given the main event by Ref Adam, and headed on out. I was a
tad concerned, but I have fought through it before. Concerned,
because this was a match for the SAW Tag Team titles, with the Aldens
defending against the team of Maxx Burton and Drake Evans.
Unfortunately, Shane was ill, and not cleared to wrestle, so Eric got
ian Daniels to take the open spot to defend the titles. It was a
good solid match, nothing splashy or flashy, nothing to get lost in,
since I was out earlier in the night. When it all ended, there
was a pin of Ian, and new Tag Team Champions crowned. I can see
the Aldens petitioning the Front Office to get a rematch at the next
opportunity, since it was Ian, not eric that got pinned. We'll
have to see how that goes.
I had this weekend off, did some
house work, getting ready for my trip to Texas in a week or so, and
getting my promo DVDs ready to go. I have to get a cover
finished, and then I can send 2 out. Who knows, maybe I'll get a
booking from them.... we'll see. Next weekend, I am in
OSPW, then off to Houston from the 11th to the 18th. I have a
scheduled day off on the 22nd, then N.E.W. is hosting InJustice III at
the main Street Armory on the 29th. Contact your friendly Ref Al
Scott for tickets if you need them! the next weekend is UW in
Geneva, with the return of my warm, close, personal friend, BLUEUE, in
his "try out" for UW. Then, the next weekend is 2 2CW shows,
Watertown on the 11th, Syracuse on the 12th, then ADK on the 17th,
NorthEast wrestling in Newburgh NY on the 18th, and I am looking for a
booking on the 19th and 26th. Need a ref??

"glad, but sad", revisited.....
What a beautiful day in the
neighborhood..... How are you?? I'm WONDERFUL!!! I
had a great weekend. My home fed, Next Era Wrestling, hosted a
show at the Armory, Fatal Attraction III. Earlier in the week, I
was told I was scheduled for 3 matches, one of them, the Ladders Match
for the Tag Team Titles. COOL!!! After all the usual stuff
that goes on during the day of the show, I went downstairs and started
getting ready. As I walked by the card that was posted
downstairs, I saw that I was set for 4 matches. I still have the
opening match, I still have the Unification match, still part of the
crew for the Ladders match, but now, I am listed for the Scotty 2 Hotty
match. There is no opponent listed yet, but WOW. I get to
work with Scotty, another name to add to the resume, but also, this is
the first name I will work with that I have seen work live, in the
ring, from the Fan's perspective.
It was in 2001, after some
major drama involving my family and I in Cincinnati, and WWE was coming
to town to tape SmackDown, so I figured that a night out would help us
forget for a moment. I was fortunate enough to get 4 fifth row
floor tickets. My nephew was there to see Stone Cold, my niece
wanted to see her fave, Scotty, I was hoping for Mick to show up, and
my sis was just glad to get out of the house. During the
undercard, while they were taping another show, Scotty worked a match,
and during the hype up before the match, saw a poster my niece made for
him, and pointed right at it and her, and she was in
HEAVEN!!!!!!!!
Last July, he and Brian
Christopher (Too Cool) worked a match at N.E.W. and my family came up
from Ohio to see them, and my niece got to spend a bit of time with
him, and get pictures, and autographs, and spent the whole night in
bliss. Since then, they moved back to Houston, and she was not
able to make it back up for this show.
I was wandering around
downstairs and I bumped into Scotty and greeted him, and he asked if my
family was going to be here this show..... HUH? WOW.
"Um, no, they couldn't make it this time.." "I'm sorry I missed
them..." WOW.
Now, I admit, while I was in
the ring in October, waiting for the Sandman to finish his entrance, it
was really hard for me to not go into "fan" mode, got to stay
professional, and I had the same problem during Scotty's match.
He ended up wrestling Kriptic, and there were a couple spots Scotty
incorporated me into that I really had an issue keeping straight faced
for. Before the match, I checked Scotty's boots, wrist tape, etc,
then I checked Kriptic. before I could start the match, Kriptic
wanted me to check Scotty again. I went to check his wrist tape
and Scotty raised his left hand into the air. I reached up to
check it and he raised his right hand up, too. So he is there
with both hands in the air, I have both of mine up, and before I knew
it, he was holding my wrists, and making me clap my hands for him, and
the crowd clapped along with it.
Later in the match, Kriptic was
taunting Scotty, and trowing a lot of middle finger gestures at
him. After a couple minutes, Scotty told Kriptic to hold on,
rolled out of the ring, and started looking for "something", not sure
yet what. He pulled up the apron skirt on this side of the ring,
then over to the other, looking perplexed. Then he rolled back
into the ring, walked over to me, and then put his hand in my pocket,
and pulled something out. He then took a step to Kriptic with his
hand balled up, them opened the hand to him to show him THE
FINGER!!!!! The crowd popped, and I was thinking how great it
would have been for my family to be here....

my "Year to Date" so far
My
"Hard Working Ref" Tour 2008 is off and running, running hard, I'd
say. I took the first weekend off, chillaxin, as the kids (used
to) say. I spent the second weekend working 2 matches for the
IYFW fed in Rutland Vermont, and through that, got booked for the next
weekend at Slam AllStar Wrestling, SAW in Swanton Vermont, working 3
matches. That was a mixed weekend, I got to see (and have dinner
at Denny's with) my VT friends, and debut in a new Fed, but I
also got stuck in a whiteout on the way home, going 5 miles in an hour
and a half. Oh, the fun of traveling alone.... The last
weekend of the month, I worked for OSPW in Buffalo, 3 more
matches. There, I heard that a couple of the wrestlers I have
worked with in the past are off to Europe at the end of this month,
Horace "the Dark Knight" White is off, along with Al Jihad, if he can
sneak through security and customs. Personally, I hope he does,
and then gets caught over there and sent back to his homeland, but
that's just me. As soon as I get a copy of the poster for the
fed(s), I will try to post it here.
I am half way through my bookings for February, and the first
weekend, I hopped a ride with Mr Las Vegas himself, Pappa
Terry Kadillac, to go to the PCWA benefit show in Mount Carmel
PA. They are bringing in Al Snow in May for a seminar. I
worked 4 matches there, including the Main Event with TBA v Arbo and
Unbreakable Andy, the two guys from my last PCWA show in
November. It was not as exciting a match as the previous one was,
but it was "match of the night", by far. And, it was my 4th main
event in 2008. I had 6 solo Main Events in 2007, and now I have 4
so far in 2008. I had 10 total Main Envents, but 4 were multi ref
matches, like cage matches, TLC or Ladders matches, where more than 1
ref was on the outside. At that show, Kriptic Keegan mentioned
that he saw that I was not booked for the weekend of the 9th, and did I
want to work? he and Nick Paradise are working there, so I said
OK, I could use the weekend off, but sure, if it is worth it. He
assured me it was a great fed, and it was in Ohio, a state
I had not yet worked in. So I asked to get the contact info from
him, and I emailed NEPW, and with permission, dropped Nick and
Kriptic's names, and got the booking. So, I spent the 2nd
Saturday of Feb in Ohio, in Painesville, working 2 matches there.
While I was there, after I was done for the night, a promoter from Erie
PA offered me a job at his fed. The NEPW promoter event took me
out to eat after (AT WAFFLE HOUSE, I LOVE WAFFLE HOUSE) and then I got
stuck in the storm on the ride home.
Next weekend, NEW in Rochester, at the Armory, Fatal Attraction
III, featuring Scotty Too Hotty, then on the 21st, ADK is in Queensbury
NY and the 22nd, ADK is in Albany NY (both of which I have to miss due
to work responsibilities). Also on the 22nd, in Erie PA,
Rampage Wrestling is running a show (that I may miss due to work, but I
might be able to make it, I have to contact that promoter to see if we
can work something out...), nad then the 23rd, I am working in
Binghamton, NY with 2CW.
Today, I should get my prototype DVD for my Promo Pack that I am
working on to send out to promoters, to try to get booked in the
future. Stay tuned!
02-01-08
new Contact page for Fed's looking to book me
is found here, just click the CONTACT button
and include your info, show info, etc, and I will bet back to
you. If you go to my myspace page, I have a calendar there that
shows me bookings.

the "Hard Working Ref" Tour 2008
...kicks off this weekend in Rutland,
Vermont. 2007 was a banner year, full of firsts for me, and I
anticipate 2008 being a bigger, better, stronger, faster year for
me. As you can see from the Calendar on my myspace, I am pretty
booked up through the middle of April already, so the "Hard Working
Ref" is
not just a snappy catch phrase...
Last year, I didn't have many
goals, I knew it would be a long, learning, year. I had hoped,
but not realistically expected to work in Canada someday, but I did
that in September. I did not expect a major "name", but got the
Sandman and Spike Dudley. And I sure as heck was not looking to
ref any "current" name talent, wrestlers with contracts working on TV,
like Antonio Thomas, Nikki Roxx (Roxxi LaVeaux), and Talia Madison
(Velvet Shy), all can be seen on TNA. My only real goals were to
learn as much as I could, RETAIN as much as I could, and try to be a
consistant Ref, a respectful worker in the lockerroom, and to
network. There are days when I can't believe I actually do this,
and then there are days when I can't believe I actually do this,
because it is hard work. Ref's do work hard, train hard, lots of
travel, it can be tiring. For wrestling, I traveled over 8500
miles last year in my car. I would guess that I traveled a total
of at least 10,000 miles....
So, for 2008, the "Hard Working
Ref"
Tour is just that, I am ready to work, for any INDY feds in Western NY,
through out New England, OR ANY WHERE ELSE! My goals for
2008? Pretty much the same as they were in 2007, continue to
learn, try to retain, maintain the consistancy, and build on the good
reputation I have somehow managed to gain. I also have a lofty
goal to strive for, in the vane of the "Hard Working Ref"... I am
going to put together a Promo Package (promo pic(s), Resume, DVD) to
send out to promoters to see if I can get 2 bookings, just 2 to start,
all on my own, without any assistance from my wonderful friends, who
made working last year easy, and a sheer pleasure, even if I was trying
hard not to pee myself at 3am laughing at the greatest Story EVER
told...... And I am looking to work in a totally different part
of the country, like Texas (surprise) or Arizona, just to see if I can,
and to network, LEARN, get used to different styles, all to make me a
better Ref, for you, the promoters, workers and fans that I do this
for, and for me, because it's fun.
01-01-2008
....another one bites the dust.....
....but in no way was it a "bad" year
at all. Just a few hilites in a great year:
~In what I jokingly refer to as
the www.RefAlScott.com North American "Learning to Count" Tour 2007~
JANUARY- My Professional debut in
North Tonowanda, New York for N.E.W.
FEBRUARY- N.E.W.'s new home, the
Main Street Armory in Rochester, and meeting Tito Santana and "Suprfly"
Jimmy Snucka. I debuted in Buffalo NY with OSPW.
APRIL- I reffed a 6 lady tag match
with "Survivor Series" elimination rules in Elmira, NY, for N.E.W.
JUNE- Steel Cage match with OSPW
in Amherst, NY.
JULY- Head Ref for UW in Elmira.
SEPTEMBER- was FULL of good
things. I debuted in Savona, NY with ICW, and for 2CW in
Syracuse, NY. But, my main moment for the month was debuting in
CANADA, in Crystal Ridge Ontario, for WCCW. I worked every
weekend, and had a few back to back shows.
OCTOBER- I reffed the Sandman at
the N.E.W. show in Rochester. I debuted for UCW in Uniontown, PA.
NOVEMBER- Binghamton, NY and
Irondequoit, NY for 2CW, PCWA in Mount Carmel, PA, and Rutland, VT for
IYFW, where I was offered and accepted the Senior Ref spot.
Reffed Matt Hyson (Spike Dudley) and Nikki Roxx (Roxxi Laveaux) in 2CW.
DECEMBER- I reffed Mr. Jerrelle
Clark at N.E.W., and finished out the year in Queensbury, NY for ADK
Wrestling.
I believe, in just my first year,
I have worked 100 matches, on 33 shows, for 10 Feds, traveled to 14
different cities in 3 states, and in 2 Countries. I've made many
friends, a few core PALS I know I can count on, tried not to peeve any
one off, got peeved by a couple of people (who will remain nameless),
and look forward to learning more, growing more, building on what
Swift, Ashe, and the rest have instilled and built in me. Look
Out, Western New York Indy Wrestling scene, I am hitting the road
again!!!

OK, OK, honestly, time for the Ice Crystal Chill Update
Some people just don't know when to
get off my back (Beast) about my just not having the time to get an
update in..... SHEESH!!!!!! OK, I have a couple minutes
tonight, thanks to no Den because I had to work late.... So,
where to start... Should I start with IB Green? no, not
yet.... OH, 2CW in November... wow, THAT LONG
AGO????? Ok, lets try to remember this
correctly. On the 9th of Nov, I worked 2CW in Binghamton,
NY. Hmmm, that was the night the crowd turned on me, and if I
would have been just a touch slower, I'd be dead right now, with NO
update. All Money is Legal with Studly Steve were going up
against Gordy, Jason Axe, and Matt Hyson (YES, I reffed a match with
SPIKE!!!) and it all broke down pretty quickly, Jason got his team
disqualified with a chair shot. Steve K rushed in to save Steve M
from a continued bad beating, the good guys got the upper hand, cleared
the ring, and started pulling chairs out from under the ring. A
lot of chairs. Soon the ring was full of chairs. Too many
to have come from under the ring. Know why? THEY WERE
RAINING DOWN FROM THE CROWD!!!!! People 5 rows back chunking
their chairs to the ring. Before Securtiy, Jack Trades, or I
could get any semblense of order, one of AMiL got Matt up in the corner
and bombed him into the pile of chairs in the center of the ring.
At first, there were a couple chants going, "that was awesome", "holy
(expletive deleted)" and "one more time!". That one got louder
and louder, and Matt wisely got his senses and bolted to the back,
saying to me, "oh, F.... NO!". Good for him, BAD FOR ME, becuase
that chant quickly became "KILL THE REF!!!!" Before I could get
back to the safety of the locker room, I ended up with AMiL to the left
of me, Steves to the right, and a voice screaming RUN! I think it
was my voice. I hope it was a manly yell, and not a scaredy
little kiddy squeal (which I am sure it was)... I ran.... I
somehow got past them as they tried to cut me off and got back to the
safety of the locker room before they could get me. The next
night in Irondequoit, fans were booing me and calling me a (derrogatory
slang vernacular for a part of female reproductive system), to which I
simply laughed to myself. Yes, I am a p........ but I am alive,
healthy and safe......
The next Saturday, the 17th, I drove to Emlira, picked up my friends
that helped get me booked at PCWA in PA, IB Green, his lovely wife
Stephanie, and their friend Chill. It was a good day. I got
to meet Nikolia Volkov, met "Superfly" Jimmy Snucka again, reffed an
absolutely incredible match, one that is the epithome of the term
"HOLY SHIT" (the link is in an earlier post, and the video is on my
myspace, if you want to see it, and wonder how these kids could
possibly still be walking after their brutal match...) I had the
pleasure of hearing about the GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD, and laughed so
hard I stayed awake all night for the drive home. During this
trip, we found out that the UW show on the 15th of December was
cancelled, again. I got home in time to take a short nap before I
had a date with the lovely lady from the wedding that caught the
bouquet. We shared a wonderful MEAL at Olive Garden, a MEAL of
soup and salad, bread sticks, splendid conversation, a great date and
tasty MEAL.
The next saturday, the 24th, we loaded up the truck and moved to
Beverly... um, no, we loaded up the Explorer and traveled east to
Rutland, VT, to work a show for IYFW. GREAT PEOPLE, I had a fun
night, met Tookie Tucker, the wrestling trucker, who I also got to ref,
and now, I mark out for, he's a good worker. I also got to ref
Swift. Sometime during that night, all that I had been trained
about reffing, professionalism, respect, basic locker room ettiquet, it
all paid off. I got many compliments on my reffing, my poise,
ethics, and was even offered (and I have accepted) the Senior Referee
position for IYFW in Rutland, VT. If you are in Rutland on the
12th of january, come by the Holiday Inn and see a great wrestling
show. Also, Beast, who was there, mocking me, as usual, made a
stink about soup and salad NOT making a MEAL, even though the helpful
Kasey, the trained professional waitress, said it was, and damn tasty
too! OK, she didn't say damn, that was Farooq, but I digress...
The next Saturday was N.E.W.'s Redemption III. I got to ref JC
Money (who made my friggin year when
he drop kicked SuperBeast to the floor from the apron, while Beast was
trying to get me to hold the ropes open for him, again) and MR Jerrelle
Clark, the last two regular roster members that I had not yet been able
to ref in non gimmick matches. I worked 3 matches that
night, one of them was a couple of new-comers, one I had not heard of,
Paco Un Loco, but the other, he rang a bell, Chris Kidner, from Benton
County Arkansas. He doesn't say on his myspace, but I know that
name, I think from Mid-South Wrestling in Houston, or WCCW from Dallas,
back in the 70's or 80's. I think he might be 2nd or 3rd
generation greatness in the making. Trouble is, I can't find
anything concrete in GOOGLE, so, I am not sure... But there is
something about this kid....... After the show, SOMEONE left the
lights on in the truck, and the battery was deader than dirt. So
we had to wait to finish crew til Sunday, after which, I had another
date with my new friend, this time at Applebees, Buffalo Chicken Salads
for both, a good filling DINNER. (thanks to Beast, I am using a
new terminology). Same prety smile, nice conversation, great
evening!
This past Saturday, the 8th, we made the trek to Buffalo, to work
OSPW. I had 2 matches. Bruce, their ref in training, seems
to be coming along well, and I can easily see myself not having much
responsibility there soon. He can handle it all. He's a
good kid at heart, I am sure. Could work a bit on some things
still, but I am sure we all can, I know there's more I need to
learn. Beast was pretty upset with me, not because I celebrated
him unceremonious flop to the floor last week at the feet of JC, but
because I was passing out holiday cards to my friends in Buffalo, and,
just like a 5 year old (you can interpret here, I am not going there)
whined all night when he didn't get one. Even after I explained
that I won't see these, my Buffalo peeps, til the end of next month,
and I am SURE I will have to run into him at the Den, he
still threw a hissy..... Sunday, my lady and I went back to
Olive Garden again, she wanted to go there. More soup and salad,
bread sticks, conversation... I haven't told Beast yet, though I
am sure he will figure it out, he's a snoop on this site for some
reason......
I am not booked for the next two weekends, so I hope to get a chance to
see my new friend again, I know it is a busy time of year, but I am
hopeful. My first full year reffing ends on January 20th, my
anniversary. I should break 100 matches reffed the weekend before
that. WOW. This first year has been incredible, I hope it
continues next year..... I hope it continues......

They are coming....
The UPDATES that is, lots to chat
about, just no time to put it all down. A LOT of things, good
things, going on, N.E.W. had their Redemption III last night, I was
thrown into a match to ref Mr Jerrelle Clark, an absolute honor to
finally get to ref a match of him. I got a set of N.E.W. trading
cards that were just released at this show, seris 1, and I am in it, I
have my own card, and, if you look hard enough, you will see me in
another. Do you know which one? I also sold 2 more shirts,
so I will need to get more done. If any one has any ideas for
shirts for me, email me at refalscott@juno.com. I know, I owe you
updates from the last few weeks, and I have the OSPW show in Buffalo
coming next week. After that, I am not scheduled to work for a
couple weekends, hopefully, I will get to see a new friend, get some
cleaning done, see a new friend, get shopping done, aee my
friend, and then get ready for ( I think) 2 shows in one weekend.
I have not heard from the promoter about wotrking 2CW in Syracuse on
the 29th, but I am in Queensbury, NY, for the ADK Wrestling show on
Sunday, the 30th.

Hot (ok, lukewarm) Off the Presses
So, I have a lot of things to update,
the 2 2CW shows (Binghamton and Rochester), the Mount Carmel PA show
for PCWA, of which, there is a wrestling
article here from the local paper. I am not mentioned
personally, but the ref of the match the writer is refering to is me, I
have a hilite video of the match on my myspace here. And
I just got back in town from my first Vermont show, for IYFW in
Rutland. AND, those updates will be coming soon, just not today,
I am knackered, but, go read the article, see the viseo, fun fun fun to
be had.

BREAKING NEWS
I found out today that I am booked to
work for 2CW this weekend, Friday in Binghamton NY, and then Saturday
night, right here in IRONDEQUOIT NY. This is good news for me,
especially since it's pics like this going around on the internet, darn
wedding customs......

adding another shrimp to the barbie....
I am bushed. Flat out
tired. My head is throbbing. And I'm getting
cranky..... 14 hours stuck in a car with SuperBeast and Paradise
(I'm glad Ashe came along to help keep the peace) but it was all for
goodness (I hope).
I made my Pennsylvania debut
last night in Uniontown PA, for Undisputed Championship Wrestling's
Wyked Dreams. Thanks to a few good words from Nick Paradise, the
promoter gave me 2 matches (that turned into 3.....), Nick's match, and
the Main Event Triple Threat TLC match for their World Title.
After 30 minutes of brutal (and I do honestly mean BRUTAL) TLC action, Bender got
attacked from one of the guys from the back, and ended up fighting him
to the dressing room area, leaving Playboy and the Xtremist to fight it
out for the next 10 plus minutes. Serious Ladder punishment,
vicious Chair shots, Tables that JUST WOULD NOT BREAK, and yes, friends, a double
suplex that sent the Xtremist into a refridgerator box filled with
flourescent light tubes....... Yes, I did mean BRUTAL. In the end, the
Extremist was able to painfully climb the beat to crap ladder to claim
the belt, only to have the Prodigy claim his Tiltle shot chance there
on the spot. I argued with him that this could not be the time or
place, he'd have to wait, as the Xtremist was about passed out from the
pain. Prodigy picked him up, Samoan Dropped him into the canvas,
pinned him, and insisted I count. I refused, and turned to leave
the ring. There I was met by the UCW Commisioner's assistant who
ordered the start of the match. With threat of termination, and
against my better judgement, I counted one, two....... I hit
three, but just couldn't come to say it.... then the assistant
told me to count it or walk, so I had the time keeper ring the bell,
and awarded the "win" and the Title to Prodigy. Not only was I
threatened by management, but from what I remember, Prodigy took his
frustrations out on me after the match, I remember him trying to pick
me up for a slam that I somehow got out of, but before I could get out
of the ring, there was Prodigy's fist coming at my head....
Thanks to Freak and Scarlette for helping me out afterwards, and I hope
that Jesse "the Xtremist" Skelton gets better fast!!!
Now, I have two weeks off. Time to rest my leg and other bangs
and bruises. Two parties, a "formal" dinner, a wedding and a
concert (BLUE
MAN GROUP) in the next couple weeks, and then the rollercoaster
ride starts up again.
10-17-08
all seems well with the world again.....
Well, for now anyway. First and
foremost, my leg is FEELING much better, though you would not know it
to look at the big @$$ bruise back there.... Oh, sorry IB, you
thought I was going to mention something about you? Ok, I
will... So last weekend I had what has to be to date the hilite
of my reffing career. It far outshined the IB Green v Puerto
Rican Princess match from the Dark UW show in July, by far....
Ok, OK, I kid, I'm a kidder....
As I mentioned before, my
September was a very busy one. My calendar through the rest of
the year is looking pretty good, also. I have wrestlers, and
other refs, who have been talking to and with promoters, and somehow
along the conversation, my name is getting mentioned, and I am getting
bookings in areas outside of where I usually work. And I just
want to thank those publicly for assisting me, as I do appreciate it
very much, and hope not to put your word or reputation in
jeopardy. First off, this saturday coming up, I got booked,
thanks to Nick Paradise and SuperBeast in Uniontown, PA working a show
for UCW. Funny, I really didn't think Paradise cared much for me,
and we all know what a thorn in my side reffing Beast has been, but I
guess I made a good impression. Another guy I have worked with in
the past, IB Green, gave me the name of the promoter for PCWA, out of
Mount Carmel, PA, for a November 17th show featuring Volkov and
Snuka. That was a huge suprise getting booked there, and for that
I thank him tons. That, and he is also trying to get me booked as
a ref when the WWE makes it's NY swing in January, well, at least
that's what I understand... right? Beast and Johnny Swift
(odd combination) got me a booking in Vermont on the 24th next
month. Ref Ashe got me booked last month with 2cw in Syracuse,
and I am hoping that I am booked there at least for the Binghamtom show
on 11-9, and the Syracuse show at the end of December. And Terry
Kadillak got me booked at UW in Elmira, NY, and Blak Jack Phoenix, in
Ontario Canada this past September.
As I told a friend the
other day, I have met some truely great and wonderful people through
wrestling, both directly and indirectly. I have been given the
opportunity to learn a craft. I have tried to learn as much as I
can, build on that knowledge, and experience, to be a good ref. I
really am not concerned with being the best, or the most booked, or the
most traveled, or have the most matches. I fell into that trap a
bit ago, but I see a bigger picture now, and with what I have already
done, well, if my career in reffing was to end tomorrow, I would be
happy. I have more than exceeded any goals or expectations I had
for myself. I have a good reputation in Western NY, I have a web
site, I have T-Shirts, and an ever expanding social circle, which is
good for me. But my goals now are pretty simple. My main
goal is to be a good, fair, consistent ref for my home fed,
N.E.W. And, if in that process, I become a good ref for other
feds, then that is a good thing for me and them. (but mostly for
me and N.E.W.) And that's about it. This year to date has
been a great ride, and I look forward to my First Anniversary in
January, and another fun year. I have other "personal" goals,
won't get into those, but thanks to reffing, they look to be shaping up
nicely, surprisingly...
Anyway, THANK YOU ALL!!!!!

Exit
Sandman.....
WOW!
That's all I can say right now, WOW!
I am here at my PC with my leg wrapped up, just thinking about how
lucky I am, and was, last night at N.E.W.'s Ascension III show. I
reffed the first match of the night, and of the Ascession Tournement,
with Dunn beating Paradise to move on, then, the third match, still
first round action, where Freddie Midnight beat Billy Foxx (I never saw
that coming...) to advance. I reffed the 7th match, a second
round match that saw Marcos beat Freddie to advance to the finals,
where he eventually got beat by.... Kriptic.... sheesh.....
I didn't ref the 9th match, it was a Costume Battle Royal, where my
friend made his wrestling debut as one of the members of the Blue Man
Group. I then reffed the Main Event, my first N.E.W. Main Event,
working with the biggest Name to date for me, the Sandman. It was
VERY hard to not be a fan while I was in the ring watching him make his
entrance, first from the balcony, and then through the crowd, making
sure to hit all 3 sections to get them into it. And then the
Honor of working in the ring with the man. Unfortunately, near
the end of the match, he went to pin RYOT, and that dang Truman guy did
it again! He pulled me out before I got to the three count.
I rolled all the way out of the ring, and hit the floor pretty hard,
and then, when I was trying to get back up, Austin Rhodes, who I guess
now is Truman's body guard, kept trying to hold me down to make sure I
was ok. I told him I was, but he didn't want me to get up too
soon and pull something, which I think I did anyway.... I heard
that while I was down, Sandman got Truman in the corner and was about
to cane him when each of the members or Wellington Enterprises came out
one at a time to save their boss, only to get caned themselves. I
can't wait to get my hands on the video of Sandman caning
Kriptic. I think I will get it set up as a loop, and have it be
my PCs screen saver. Now, now now, please don't get me
wrong. I am professional enough to not let that slimey, smarmy,
little juvenile punk get under my skin during matches, since it seems
that of all the matches I have reffed, all the wrestlers I have reffed,
he is the wrestler I have reffed the most. But that's not the
point. Maybe now that someone has taught him a lesson, maybe
he'll open his eyes.... Or not, who knows, either way, I had a
fun, great, momentous night last night. And, to top it off, I got
to sit 3 chairs down from him at dinner last night and got to overhear
some great stories, and advice about working and the business....
And about my leg, well, I was told I'd be OK, but this morning, there
is a huge, ugly bruise on the back of my thigh, and it really is very
uncomfortable. I may need to go see my regular DR on Tuesday, my
day off from my regular, secular career. I hope it's ok, or ok
enough to get through one more show this coming Saturday in PA (my
first PA show), cause then I have two or three weeks off to recoup
after that. We'll see, and I will keep you updated....
Thank
You for visiting my page.
